Classic Williams
Robin Williams at his best but Jeff Bridges gives him a run for his money, in this classic tale about two men falling from top table.

The Fisher is King
There are so many facets to this moving,personal film...an Arthurian tale,a love story, psychosis,isolation,loss,homelessness (a theme throughout)and above all friendship....It analyses peoples behaviour to uncomforable issues . If you ever scratch beneath a veneer or find yourself 'the odd one out' because you stopped to think then this is for you! If you don't back away from 'that person' because they are too challenging then this film is for you! The relationship dynamics are electric....If you have spent time with anyone 'different' or had a longstanding friendship where personal circumstances have changed or challenged you this will definately appeal to you. I always am reduced to tears by this movie....needs watching once every 5 or so years...It's a very good statement on how we ... If you like Gilliam you'll love this.
At the start Jeff Bridges is a self-centred, ex-egotistical talk radio host who on the brink of breaking into television let is mouth ruin his career. Robin Williams is an ex professor turned tramp after his girl was blown away in front of him by a gun-wielding neurotic fired up after being maligned by Bridges on his phone-in show. Ironically their path cross a few years later and, after a while and become friends. Gilliam’s love of morals, Knights in shining armour, is sated and even the ever illusive Grail makes an appearance as the swings and roundabouts do their thang. It’s a feelgood movie that goes on a bit and one for the ladies really as the ending is unashamedly schmaltzy. However, the performances are fantastic even if, like me, you can’t usually stand much of Williams but with ... Oh yeah, and Tom Waits pops up in an uncredited cameo too which was scathing and suited him perfectly.

Good cast, excellent acting and directing. Classic tale of survival. A modern story with mythological undertones. The original fisher king tale is about being given chances in life and the struggle to overcome life's challenges. This film is about a well to do radio host who gives questionable advice which leads him on a journey of self doubt, self recrimination, self discovery and ultimately a chance to make things right. Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams play a magnificent duet amongst an excellent cast.Good cast, excellent acting and directing. Classic tale of survival. A modern story with mythological undertones.
